String of Pearls

There was a young girl who had very little and yet she was happy.

One day her father came home with a string of pearls and gave them to her. The girl was SO happy and she wore the pearls proudly and took such good care of them.

A few days later her father came home late at night and asked his daughter where her pearls were. "In my box Father." He told her to go and get the pearls, so the girl obeyed.

When she came back, her father told her to throw the pearls in the fire. Without asking "why" she once again obeyed him.

Then he put his hand in his pocket and pulled out another set of pearls. "I'm now giving you the REAL String of Pearls!"

Can we give up our fake string of pearls (earthly possessions) to our Heavenly Father as willingly as the little girl did so that we may receive our REAL String of Pearls (Heaven)?

And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. ~Matthew 18:3

And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. ~Matthew 19:24

Oh Wow, Amber!!! Something we need to ask and remind ourselves of each and every day. It is so easy to get our lives out of perspective.

we get to thinking that what we are holding onto so tightly is so valuable...and irreplacable. we usually forget that God has something so much better in store for us.

great post amber.

Awesome! It makes you think about things we are holding so tightly on too, and wondering why it appears God is no longer blessing us... hummm.

I had a treasure the Lord gave to me.it was what I had waited years to recieve.it was all I had been praying for and more.it filled my heart with love and returned it as well.
but one day it turned on me and I didnt know what was wrong.I was lost and afraid and didnt know what to do.I cryed out to the Lord and asked him what to do.
He said some times a treasure isnt good for you.it looks good and may even be good for a while.but in the long run it will only hurt you.give it to me child and move on.and trust me to bless you anew, and always remember I love you.

(no treasure is worth losing ones self or losing God.its best to let it go and move on.for God is the treasure all of us need,we can go without every thing else.but we can never go without him....

great story, amber. wonderful reminder of how much more our God wants to give us and that our earthly treasures eventually turn to dust.
